Maine - Humana's Dental, Vision and Life Products Now Available in Maine

Humana Specialty Benefits recently received department of insurance approval to launch HumanaDental and HumanaVision for small and large groups in the state of Maine. Life/AD&D products are also approved for small groups, 2-99 lives. HumanaDental and Life/AD&D products will be available statewide and HumanaVision products will be available in the counties of Androscoggin, Penobscot, and York in Maine.

HumanaDental's 2009 Product Portfolio of PPO, Traditional Preferred, Preventive Plus products, as well as HumanaVision VCP products that now include an expanded network of 35,000 participating optometrist, ophthalmologist and national retail locations, are available for quoting with effective dates of July 1, 2011 for groups 2+.

  • Composite fillings and implants offered for groups of 10 or more enrolled
  • Open enrollment option also available

Maine will have HumanaDental's proprietary dental network available at the time of launch and the state will continue to be a focus for network recruitment.

Vision Plan Highlights

HumanaVision VCP products will be offered for 10+ groups (2-9 if sold with HumanaDental). The product provides:

  • Access to a network of 26,000 private practitioners and 3,200 retail options including Lens Crafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical, and JCPenney Optical.
  • Cost savings, members will receive wholesale pricing no matter which in-network provider they choose.
  • Healthier employees, as annual eye exams help prevent vision loss and help detect more serious illnesses.

Even though the product can be sold in three counties, the entire state of Maine will continue to be a focus for network recruitment. Once Humana has established a larger network throughout the state, DOI approval to sell in additional counties will be sought.

Plan summaries and product brochures are now available for ordering on the marketing ordering system.
