May is American Stroke Month
As Humana continues its partnership with the American Heart Association as the local sponsor for the Start! Movement in Chicago, we want to recognize that May is American Stroke Month. About 795,000 Americans will have a new or recurrent stroke this year; that's a stroke every 40 seconds. Learn more about your risk factors for stroke and find out how to strive for ideal health to reduce the risk of both cardiovascular disease and stroke by using the American Heart Association's My Life Check online resource at MyLifeCheck.org.
American Heart Association Lifestyle Change Award
The American Heart Association wants to recognize individuals who have made positive changes to improve their quality of life and health. No change is too small, and every accomplishment is significant! Nominations for the 2011 Lifestyle Change Award can be submitted by friends, co-workers or relatives, and individuals can nominate themselves. Nominations will be accepted through the American Heart Association Chicago Facebook page beginning this month (in May). Winners will be chosen by a volunteer committee. All winners will be recognized at the 2011 Metro Chicago Heart Walks, which Humana will be sponsoring.
