Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
FSAs, which are available only with Humana's consumer-driven plans, help employees reduce their costs and make budgeting for healthcare and dependent care easier.
Employees contribute pre-tax money to the account and then draw on the funds during the plan year to pay for qualified expenses such as doctor's bills, prescriptions, dental care, vision care, and dependent care.
FSA funds cannot be carried over from year to year. |
FSA advantages
Tax savings
Employees don't pay taxes on FSA contributions. In addition, employers enjoy tax savings on every dollar contributed by employees.
Not tied to a certain kind of plan
The FSA can cover out-of-pocket costs associated with any kind of health plan — not just one with a high deductible. Employees can even sign up for an FSA if they opt out of the employer's health plan.
Easy to use
Depending on plan design, members can spend healthcare FSA funds easily with the HumanaAccess Card - a convenience that increases FSA participation.
Dependent care
Humana also offers a dependent care FSA, which allows employees to set aside money for expenses such as childcare and adult day care. Though the HumanaAccess card can't be used for dependent care accounts, we make it easy to seek reimbursement.
The card gives members an easy, convenient way to access spending account funds at health-related provider locations such as doctor's offices and pharmacies. View details about how the HumanaAccess Card works.
