Humana was one of the first companies to offer consumer-driven plans, but we also offer traditional plans for your clients who prefer more familiar plan designs.

Humana’s Traditional Medical Plans

  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans offer a wide choice of providers, with discounts for using in-network doctors and hospitals.
  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans offer predictable out-of-pocket costs and emphasize the relationship with a primary care physician. Referrals to specialists may be required.
  • National and Regional Point of Service (POS) plans combine the cost savings of our regional HMO networks and the flexibility of a PPO. In addition to traditional POS plan designs, we offer consumer-driven POS plans.

Humana’s network offerings for traditional plans vary by area. Your clients’ options may include:

  • Humana/ChoiceCare® Network is our nationwide PPO network; for more details, visit ChoiceCare Network
  • National POS - Open Access offers improved discounts and a network of providers that overlaps 95 percent with the national Humana/ChoiceCare Network
  • Humana PreferredSM is a series of PPO and POS plan offerings, supported by a high-performance network

We also offer Classic plans, which provide indemnity-style coverage for members who live outside Humana's network areas.
