Patient Safety & Follow-up
The MTM program is a federally designed program because it’s important for good health. If a member is asked to participate, we encourage them to do so. |
Patient safety
MTM is first and foremost about educating members. Members who are educated about their medications are more likely to take them correctly and get better results. Participation in MTM will help members:
- Reduce the risk for harmful drug interactions
- Eliminate drugs that can cause or contribute to common geriatric problems such as falls, constipation, urinary incontinence, mental confusion, etc.
- Take medications in the current amounts and at the correct times
- Make sure that medications taken together work well together
Follow-up
Members are encouraged to discuss any issues that the MTM program reveals with their doctor(s). Humana will also contact the member's doctor if we are concerned about their safety.
Humana’s MTM program is intended to be a health resource added to a their doctor’s treatment plan. It is in no way intended to interfere with, or replace, that plan.
