Company lifts refill restriction with Hurricane Rita’s approach AUSTIN, TX - Sep 22, 2005 - Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today it will allow more than 300,000 members in its Houston, Galveston, Beaumont, Corpus Christi and McAllen service areas to obtain early refills of their prescriptions in view of the approaching Hurricane Rita and the severe weather threat it poses to Texas.
With the approaching storm due to hit the Texas coast by Friday, Humana has temporarily lifted the normal 30-day restriction on early prescription refills through Monday, September 26 for its health plan members in southeast and south Texas, including Medicare and commercial. As more information becomes available, Humana will be re-evaluating its policies daily in response to membership needs. The early-refill waiver is in effect for Humana members in the affected areas between now and next Monday. Humana members with questions are encouraged to call the toll-free Customer Service number on the back of their Humana identification cards.
