Veterans will have two opportunities this month – in Louisville and Radcliff – to learn about employment opportunities at Humana LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Oct 19, 2005 - Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that it will hold two job fairs for military veterans this month - in Louisville and Radcliff.
When: Friday, October 21; 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. When: Friday, October 28, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs and State Sen. Elizabeth Tori are working with Humana to plan the job fairs. Earlier this year, Humana announced that it would create more than 1,300 new positions in Kentucky over a nine-month period, through March of 2006. Approximately 1,100 of those positions are in Louisville; more than 200 positions are based in Northern Kentucky. Military veterans interested in a career with Humana will have an opportunity at the job fairs Humana is sponsoring to learn about open positions with the company, to determine their interest in any of the positions, and, if they choose, to apply with Humana while at the job fairs. "Humana is excited to be growing so significantly in our home state of Kentucky, and we're honored to extend this invitation to the region's military veterans to consider possible employment with Humana," said Mark Stone, Humana's Director of Staffing. "Humana's effort to target veterans for employment is a wonderful example of an employer trying to acknowledge and honor veterans through action, not just words. Everybody wins in this situation. The veteran is given a great opportunity for meaningful employment with a strong and reputable employer. Humana reaps the benefits of hiring individuals who are accustomed to hard work and who truly know the value of teamwork and determination. The only way it could be better is if other employers would follow Humana's lead." State Senator Tori, whose Kentucky Senate district includes Fort Knox, is working with Humana to bring the Oct. 28 job fair to Radcliff. "Humana is one of Kentucky's most valued employers, they've been recognized as one of the best places to work in Kentucky, and I'm excited to work with Humana to make our veterans in and around the Fort Knox community aware of all of the job opportunities at Humana," Sen. Tori said. "I hope a lot of veterans interested in possibly working for Humana will attend one of the job fairs. We have many qualified veterans who would be an asset to employers like Humana." Gene Strong, Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet Secretary added: "This is a wonderful opportunity for military veterans in the Louisville and Radcliff region to seek out excellent employment opportunities with a first-class company such as Humana. I applaud their efforts to reach out to those individuals who have so bravely served our country and encourage the veterans of Kentucky to attend Humana's job fair."
