Humana to allow early refills on Florida member prescriptions

Company lifts refill restriction with Hurricane Wilma’s approach

TAMPA , FL - Oct 20, 2005 - Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today it will allow its more than 600,000 members in the state of Florida to obtain early refills of their prescriptions in view of the approaching Hurricane Wilma and the severe weather threat the storm poses to Florida.

With the approaching Category 5 hurricane forecast to hit Florida by this weekend, Humana has temporarily lifted the normal 30-day restriction on early prescription refills for all its Florida health plan members, including Medicare and commercial members, through Nov. 30, which marks the end of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season.

The early-refill waiver is in effect statewide for all Florida Humana health plan members between now and Nov. 30.

Humana members with questions are encouraged to call the toll-free Customer Service number on the back of their Humana identification cards.

Humana is Florida's largest private Medicare provider with more than 240,000 Medicare members statewide, and one of Florida's leading health benefits companies with more than 350,000 commercial health plan members statewide. Humana also has about 55,000 Medicaid members, primarily located in South Florida.
