Humana expands presence on Main Street in Louisville with move into Waterfront Plaza

Hiring of 1,100 new associates in Louisville leading Humana to add new downtown workspace

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Dec 15, 2005 - Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) today is celebrating the opening of new office space for the company on three floors of Waterfront Plaza, in the 300 block of West Main Street in downtown Louisville.  Humana recently signed a five-year lease on the space and has options to lease additional space in the building.

Tax incentives from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Metro Louisville helped make Humana's 2005 Kentucky job expansion possible, with approximately 1,100 positions being created in Louisville, and another 300 in Northern Kentucky.  The new associates in Louisville are working primarily in three Humana workplaces - Waterfront Plaza, Humana's Waterside Building and the company's Bishop Lane offices.

"Humana's move into Waterfront Plaza - a new facility for the company - is just the latest sign of the company's commitment to the Main Street corridor in downtown Louisville," said Mike McCallister, Humana's President and Chief Executive Officer.  "We love downtown Louisville, we're fortunate to be growing significantly in Louisville and Northern Kentucky this year, and we're excited to make this move into Waterfront Plaza's east tower."

Humana has leased floors 6, 7 and 8 of Waterfront Plaza, where approximately 300 Humana associates will work once the workspace is completed.  The company has just begun moving associates onto the 6th floor.

"Humana's continued growth in Kentucky represents a great partnership between the state, Louisville and Humana," said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  "The commonwealth is proud to have Humana - a truly first-class company - call Kentucky home."

"It's exciting to see a hometown company adding hundreds of jobs and expanding its presence in downtown Louisville," said Mayor Jerry Abramson.  "This demonstrates both Humana's skillful leadership and their unwavering belief in our community."

"The Al J. Schneider Company is delighted to welcome a world-class company like Humana to the Waterfront Plaza," said Sam Moseley, General Manager of the Schneider Company.  "The building's direct connection with the Galt House Hotel's accommodations and amenities provides a unique opportunity for our new tenant to enjoy an office experience unparalleled in Louisville.  We look forward to building a long relationship with one of Louisville's top companies."
