DENVER, CO - Sep 20, 2006 - Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that its existing contract with HCA-HealthONE hospital and ancillary facilities has been extended from June 1, 2007 through May 31, 2008 for all Humana members throughout Colorado.
Terms of the contract extension were not disclosed.
"We have forged a much tighter relationship with HCA-HealthOne, since our members in Colorado seek out care in their hospitals, surgery centers, and imaging sites a majority of the time, " said Leslie Andrews, president for Humana's Colorado market. "A majority of our inpatient admissions and outpatient services are performed in an HCA-HealthONE facility in the Denver Metro Area, so we are delighted to enter into a long-term relationship with HealthONE facilities," said Andrews. "HCA-HealthONE accepts all Humana's commercial and Medicare plans, so our members access them as an in-network provider, which reduces their out-of-pocket costs," said Rich Powers, vice president of network contracting for Humana's Colorado market. "The contract extension just makes sense for both organizations because it allows us to have as little network disruption as possible for all our members in Colorado and makes their overall healthcare experience with us and the facilities they use a positive one." Humana members have in-network access to the following HCA/HealthONE facilities: HCA/HealthONE Hospitals in Humana's Provider Network Medical Center of Aurora - Aurora HCA/HealthONE Ambulatory Surgical Centers in Humana's Provider Network Centrum Surgical Center - Englewood HCA/HealthONE Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital Sites in Humana's Provider Network Spalding at PSL Medical Center - Denver Humana members also have in-network access to HCA's 16 Freestanding Imaging Centers throughout Denver and the surrounding communities.
