High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
While many types of health plans have a high deductible, it takes a certain set of features to make a plan compatible with the Health Savings Account (HSA).
Pairing an HDHP with an HSA gives your employees solid coverage, with the opportunity to set aside tax-free money for current-year health expenses and build savings for the future. |
Wide range of IRS-qualified HDHPs
Humana offers several HDHP plan designs, so you can choose the plan that works best for you and your employees. The plans feature low premiums and an integrated deductible for both medical and pharmacy costs.
How the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) Works
- Simple deductible/coinsurance plan design. Members pay toward the deductible every time they see a doctor or fill a prescription. (Preventive services may be an exception.) Once the deductible is met, standard coinsurance rates apply.
- Out-of-pocket maximum provides a built-in cap on annual health expenses.
- All Humana HDHPs are HSA-compatible. Employer, employee, or both can contribute to an HSA.
