Humana - Guidance when you need it most

Point of Service

Humana’s National and Regional Point of Service (POS) plans combine the cost savings of our regional HMO networks and the flexibility of a Preferred Provider Organization. Members can stay within the network and pay a lower share of the cost – or they can seek services outside the network and pay more.

We offer range of POS plan designs, including traditional and consumer-driven plans.

How a POS Plan Works

Humana’s National POS – Open Access products are filed as dual-certificate offerings. The HMO portion of the certificate supports access to Humana’s cost effective, regional HMO network. A PPO product certificate wraps the HMO certificate. This combination provides in-network access to Humana’s ChoiceCare® network, as well as an out-of-network benefit. Check with your Humana representative to find out if the National POS plan is available in your area.

With a Regional POS plan, members also have access to both HMO and PPO in-network providers. When they receive services from in-network providers, the plan covers more of the costs. The plan’s coverage is the same for HMO and PPO providers.

  • Both traditional plan designs and consumer-driven plans are available
