Tax-free funds for healthcare and dependent care.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

Humana makes Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) easy for you to administer and easy for employees to use.

Employees contribute pre-tax money to the healthcare FSA and then use the funds for qualified expenses such as doctor's bills, prescriptions, dental care, and vision care. Humana also offers a dependent care FSA, which allows employees to set aside money for expenses such as childcare and adult day care.

Advantages of Humana's FSA for employers

  • Employer savings – A healthcare FSA decreases your total payroll costs, reducing the amount of taxes you pay. You save on every dollar your employees contribute.
  • Less work for you – Humana's FSA administration is seamlessly coordinated with the HumanaAccess ® Visa ® Debit Card and other benefits, including the Personal Care Account (PCA) PPO plan.

Advantages of Humana's FSA for employees

  • Employee savings – Employees can use tax-free money for qualified healthcare expenses, so they can get more items and services for the same amount of money.
  • Consumer involvement – Humana's funding options, including the HumanaAccess Card, encourage employees to get involved in choosing and paying for healthcare.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2011, over-the-counter medications such as pain relievers, cough syrup, and allergy medicines will require a prescription to be eligible for reimbursement from an FSA or PCA. The HumanaAccess Card will not be able to be used to purchase OTC medications.

FSA, PCA, and HSA spending accounts are not insured benefits; they are a service administered by Humana Insurance Company.
