Scheduling a Consultation
Not all members are asked to schedule a consultation – only those with a higher risk level for harmful drug reactions.
If a member receives a notice in their SmartSummary RxSM statement to call MTM, we encourage them to do so.
Consultations are provided at no additional cost. |
Scheduling
The consultation will be with a registered nurse or a pharmacist. Consultations are conducted either over the phone or face-to-face. These things are needed for the call:
- Humana ID number
- SmartSummary Rx or a list of medications
- A pen and paper for taking notes
- Doctors’ addresses and phone numbers, in case we need to contact them about the consultation
The consultation
In the course of a year, an MTM member can expect to receive one initial telephone or face-to-face consultation – which last up to 60 minutes – and follow-up consultations lasting up to 30 minutes each. As part of the consultation, the nurse or pharmacist will:
- Answer any questions about the members' medications
- Evaluate how and when to take the medications
- Discuss any areas of concern about the medications or offer lower-cost drug alternatives
- Contact their doctor(s) with recommendations after the consultation
