Disability benefits.

Overview

Employee-paid disability coverage offers you income protection with benefits that partially replace income lost as a result of a disabling non-occupational accident or illness.

How it works

When a non-occupational accident takes away the ability to bring home a paycheck, employee-paid disability coverage helps fill the gap. Payments can be used for any purpose.

How it Works

When a non-occupational accident takes away the ability to bring home a paycheck, employee-paid disability coverage helps fill the gap. Payments can be used for any purpose, including ongoing bills such as rent or mortgage payments, educational expenses, food, and car payments.

Benefit options include:

  • Disability Income Advantage - Provides non-occupational (off-the job) coverage for disability resulting from injury or illness.
  • Disability Income Plus - Benefits can be provided for partial disability at 50 percent, and for recurrent disabilities if you are disabled within 180 days of returning to work.

Humana's partial disability benefit is unique for a voluntary product - if you are able to return to work and assume 20-80 percent of your duties, you will receive 50 percent of the disability benefit for up to six months.
