Healthcare spending account debit card.

Overview

The HumanaAccess Card is a key element of Humana's PCA, HSA, and healthcare FSA.

The card is a Visa debit card that gives you an easy, convenient way to access healthcare funds.

When you receive your HumanaAccess Card in the mail, be sure to sign the back and call the toll-free activation number right away so the card is ready to go when you need it. If you get more than one card, you only need to activate one for both to work. By activating the card, you accept the terms and conditions outlined in the cardholder agreement.

How it works

You can use your card to pay for doctor's office services and to pay for prescriptions at the pharmacy. Just remember to select "credit" for your transaction - the card doesn't have a PIN.

Depending on the type of spending account you have, you may be able to use your HumanaAccess Card for eligible over-the-counter drug purchases, as well.

Most of the time, the HumanaAccess Card is also your member ID card, providing convenient access to both spending account funds and member information on one card.

How it works

To use your card ...

At the doctor's office

Usually, you wait until your claim is processed before paying for doctor's visits. Then, simply call the doctor's office and provide your card number and expiration date or write the number on the bill and return it.

Some doctors may request payment at the time of your visit. If this happens, just use your HumanaAccess Card to make the payment. Or you can pay another way and then request reimbursement.

At the pharmacy

Here are a few tips to simplify pharmacy transactions:

  • Present your card for payment or swipe it through the credit card machine
  • Select "credit" for your transaction
  • If you're asked for a PIN, select "cancel"

Note: With a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Personal Care Account (PCA), you can't use the card to pay expedited shipping and handling fees for online or mail-order prescriptions.

For OTC drug purchases

If you have a HSA, FSA, or PCA, you can use your HumanaAccess Card to buy OTCs directly from the pharmacy and many drugstores and other retailers. Some plans do not allow OTCs or prescription drugs to be reimbursed from all accounts. Check with your employer for what expenses are eligible for reimbursement from your account.

As your member ID card

Most of the time, the HumanaAccess Card is also your member ID card, providing convenient access to both spending account funds and member information on one card.
