Dependent basic term life

This employer-sponsored coverage pays benefits if a spouse or dependent child dies. Key features:

  • Benefit for death of a spouse – $5,000 or $10,000, depending on your employer's plan (Terminates at age 65)
  • Benefit for death of a child age 6 months to 19 years* (25 for full-time student) – $2,500 or $5,000, depending on your employer's plan
  • Benefit for death of a child ages 15 days to 6 months – $500

There is no benefit for death of a child from birth to 14 days old.
