Going to bed responses

Going to bed at 10:00pm does not work for those that get up at 4:30am and need 8 hours of sleep. When you work all day, then get home an get dinner, clean up, try to exercise, spend time with family and get to be by 8:30pm it does not work out...

Family time--it makes the break from work and home emails
Tom J, Louisville, Ky

I just sit in front of my tv for at least an hour before bedtime... it does work for me.... it is my way of relaxing before going to bed.

Read a passage out of the bible, this gives me something to meditate on while drifting off to sleep (meditate - not clearing the mind - big difference)
Trevor W., Cedar Springs, MI

I like Sudoku and concentrating on that pushes other thoughts and worries out of my mind and makes it easier to fall asleep.
Mary E, Bright, IN

I clear my head by reflecting on the good things that I was able to see and enjoy during the day. Then I thank God for life and allowing me to experience this day, because it is a day that I will never see again. One day at a time because yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come. So be thankful for this day!
Donald A., Laplace, La.

I snuggle with my pet cat and give warm loving hugs as you will always get the unconditional love back with a purrrr...

I don't have any advice, instead I'm looking for some. Most of these suggestions are for people who have families or are married. What about us single people? My family lives out of town, I'm not married and I don't have any children. Would LOVE some stress reliever ideas that are fresh and new for the single person.

Write in a journal about the day or read a book.

Take a hot bubble bath, then brush my teeth and hair, put on hand cream and other body lotion, then cool down in a comfortable chair while browsing through a nice garden book or magazine.
Donna M., Louisville, KY

I read my Bible/devotional book and pray.
Lisa H., Louisville, KY

Name 3 things you are most thankful for for that day and then go to sleep. Repeat this every single night until it becomes a habit. Find 3 things no matter what. It works!
Kalyn L., Galloway, OH

I love to read before I go to bed. I get all sleepy with my book and crash out pretty early every night!
Lindsey M., Norcross, GA

Read my Bible and do a nightly devotional. Pray. Then to end my evening, I mentally rest in the arms of Christ. When I wake, I put on the full armor of God and read His word (Bible). Then, I'm ready to start my day!
Becky H.

My best "sleeping potions" are a warm shower or bath to relax my muscles and reading an interesting book in bed until my eyes are no longer reading but closed.
Betty S. Emporia, KS

Being a homeowner, I work on my house. Cleaning, putting away all kinds of stuff from junk mail to finished or unfinished hobbies. A clean kitchen (with resulting smaller chance of bug infestation) and a neat house puts my mind and soul in order and at peace.
Susan H., Miami, FL

To clear my head I usually fill out my Humana prescription forms again, call the Humana prescription help line to find out why it was rejected this time and why they didn't contact me or my doctor, then have a 9-inch plate of 50% vegetables while watching my daughter freak out because she doesn't have her medicine.
Tim J. Oxford OH

Go to bed with a good book.
Natalie E., Louisville, KY

After putting the children to bed, my fiance' and I take our dog for a walk and share our days events. We retreat to our room and as we brush our teeth together, we recount how many things made us laugh throughout the day. It's always fun to remember the funny things especially after a stressful day. Laughter is the best medicine.
Michelle M - Tampa, Fl

I say prayers, thanking God for all the good things that happened that day.
Elizabeth B, Little Chute, WI

Meditation, works wonders. Light some incense, put on some instrumental music, dim the lighting and meditate for about 5 min. Afterwards drink a hot couple of tea and lie back.
Rev. James B. Marietta, GA

I watch a comedy on TV so that I don't think about work or things I need to do. I never watch the news before bed as it is a stressor.
Kelly F, New Albany, IN

I like to pick out what I am going to wear the next day before I got to bed. It eliminates stress in the morning and while you are trying to drift off. I feel more relaxed when I prepare for the next day.
Katie E., Chicago, IL

Take a warm bath and top it off with a cup of herbal tea.
