Patient Safety & Follow-up

The MTM program is federally required because it’s important to your health. If you are asked to participate, we encourage you to do so.

Patient safety

MTM is first and foremost about educating members. Members who are educated about their medications are more likely to take them correctly and get better results. Participation in MTM will help members:

  • Reduce the risk for harmful drug interactions
  • Identify drugs that can cause or contribute to common geriatric problems such as falls, constipation, urinary incontinence, mental confusion, etc.
  • Take medications in the current amounts and at the correct times
  • Make sure that medications taken together work well together

Follow-up

You’re encouraged to discuss any issues that the MTM program reveals with your doctor(s). Humana will also contact your doctor if we are concerned about your safety.

Humana's MTM program is intended to be a health resource added to your doctor’s treatment plan. It is in no way intended to interfere with, or replace, that plan.
