Scheduling a Consultation

Not all members are asked to schedule a consultation – only those with a higher risk level for harmful drug reactions.

If you receive a notice in your SmartSummary Rx® statement to call MTM, please do so – it is important to your health.

Consultations are provided to you at no additional cost.

Scheduling

Your consultation will be with a pharmacist. Consultations are conducted either over the phone or face-to-face. Please have these things ready when you call:

  • Your Humana ID number
  • Your SmartSummary Rx or a list of your medications
  • A pen and paper for taking notes
  • Your doctors’ addresses and phone numbers, in case we need to contact them about the consultation

Your consultation

In the course of a year, an MTM member can expect to receive one initial telephone or face-to-face consultation – which last up to 60 minutes – and follow-up consultations lasting up to 30 minutes each. As part of your consultation, the pharmacist will:

  • Answer any questions you have about your medications
  • Evaluate how and when to take your medications
  • Discuss any areas of concern about your medications or offer lower-cost alternatives to the drugs you are taking
  • Contact your doctor(s) with recommendations after the consultation if needed
