Preventive Care
Regular screenings are important because they can help to detect problems before they turn into serious conditions like heart disease and cancer. Catching problems early saves valuable time for treatment.
Preparing for Screenings
Talk to your doctor about screenings whenever you have an annual physical – if not more often. When you call to schedule a screening, it's a good idea to ask these questions:
- How is the screening done? Knowing what to expect can make you feel more at ease.
- What do I need to do to prepare? For instance, you may need to have no food or drinks other than water before certain cholesterol tests.
- Where can I have the procedure done? Check your plan documents or call Customer Service to find out if your costs may be lower at certain types of facilities.
