MYB-ACT: Maximize Your Benefit-
Authorization for Continued Therapy

For certain classes of drugs, Humana will implement a lower cost alternative for members in 2005. This effort will affect members who fill or refill a prescription for drugs upon their Humana plan renewal date on or after March 1, 2005, in the following drug classes:

  • Heptic 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG)
  • Nonsedating antihistamine drugs (NSA)
  • Proton-pump inhibitors (PPI)
  • Cyclooxygenase Inhibitor II (COX-II)

These members will receive their prescription, but will be notified that they have until their next refill to discuss the following with their prescribing physician:

  • Try a lower cost alternative
  • Seek authorization (medical exception) to continue taking their current drug
  • Pay the full retail price for the drug
