Humana Refreshes Web site

Humana has redesigned the unsecured pages of its Web site, Humana.com. The main goal of the upgrade has been to improve the overall usability and branding on the site. The site features a new design, structure and navigation to help users find what they are looking for quickly and easily.

The new home page allows the user to identify himself or herself as a member, employer, agent or provider. Within each of these groups, the information is consolidated into four main areas with information and tools that are relevant to the user. These are represented at the top of the page, just below the logo in a clear and easy-to-read colored bar. For providers, the four categories are Plans & Products, Contracting Resources, Health & Wellness, and Tools & Resources.

Another new feature is Quick Links, which allow users to quickly get to important information that is frequently accessed on the site. The quick links for providers include Provider Medicare Tools, Pharmacist Resources, Prescription Tools and information about NPI, among others.

Within the providers pages, content has been grouped into like-items for easy reference, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) information and claims information.

The improvements to the Web site were made after some prelaunch user-testing. The testers looked at navigation, overall design and the amount of content on each page and their comments were incorporated into the final design.
