Private Fee-for-Service Plans Offer Advantages

Humana offers a complete suite of Medicare Advantage products to its Medicare-eligible members. Medicare Advantage products provide an affordable and flexible alternative to traditional Medicare coverage and supplements.

One popular Medicare Advantage option is Humana Gold Choice, a private fee-for-service (PFFS) plan available in more than 30 states. The Humana Gold Choice plan offers many benefits for
members:

• low copayments to see physicians
• coverage for generic and brand-name medications
• preventive services, including annual physical examinations
• affordable monthly premiums
• out-of-pocket expense limits

This plan also offers many advantages for physicians:

• There is not a provider network for Humana Gold Choice, so physicians do not have to be contracted with Humana to treat members enrolled in this plan.
• Humana Gold Choice reimburses providers based on Original Medicare reimbursement methodologies and follows all Medicare policies and guidelines.
• Referrals are not required, and members can see any provider that is Medicare-certified and agrees to Humana’s terms and conditions.

Physicians who treat Humana Gold Choice members simply collect the appropriate copayment at the time of service, then submit a claim to Humana Gold Choice either electronically or via the address on the member’s ID card. Physicians will be reimbursed for Medicare-covered services directly by Humana, up to the Medicare-allowed amount, minus any copayment.
