Humana Releases New ID Cards

As part of its commitment to the privacy of its members, Humana will no longer print Social Security numbers on member identification (ID) cards. Instead, each member will be assigned a separate and unique identification number, printed on new ID cards that will be sent to members over the coming year. This applies to all ID cards, displaying either the Humana or ChoiceCare Network logo.

Some members may not be aware that the information on their ID card changed. To ensure they have the most current information, practices should ask their staff to regularly obtain new photocopies of all Humana-insured patients’ member ID cards when they come in to receive care. Having the new identification number will enable practices to submit claims with the appropriate member information and avoid unnecessary claims payment delays.

If you have any questions related to this matter, contact Humana’s Customer Service at 1-800-4-HUMANA (1-800-448-6262) or call the number on the back of the member ID card.

  • Humana members will receive new ID cards throughout 2004.
  • Member ID numbers will be different from Social Security numbers.
  • Routinely update member ID numbers and information for your records.
