Midyear Changes to Humana Drug List Announced

Midyear changes to the Humana Drug List took effect on July 1, 2004. Specifically, certain drug classes have moved to a higher level on the Rx3 and Rx4 drug plans.

Humana-insured patients will still have access to these drugs, but a higher copayment may be required. As always, talk with your patients about whether lower-cost alternatives on the Humana Drug List are available through their prescription drug benefit plans.

Drugs in the following classes have moved to a higher level on the Rx3 and Rx4 drug plans:

  • ADHD, for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Topicals - Acne
  • Topicals - Eczema
  • Nasal Steroids
  • Contraceptives
  • Estrogens

The current Humana Drug List can be found online. For more information, visit www.humana.com and follow the “Providers” link to “Prescription Drug Benefits and Services,” and then click on “Drug List Search.”
