Drug List Changes Announced for 2004

Effective January 1, 2004, changes were made to the Drug List for Humana’s prescription drug benefit plans. Drugs may have been added, deleted or moved to a different level on the Humana Drug List.

In some cases, level changes mean that your Humana-insured patients will still have access to the drug, but they may be required to pay a higher copayment than they paid in 2003. Some of the products that moved from Level 2 to Level 3 are the proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). These PPIs, such as Nexium® and Prevacid®, will still be available to your patients, but they will pay a higher copayment. Effective February 1, 2004, two other changes were made to the Drug List. Lipitor® moved down from Level 3 to Level 2, and Zocor® moved from Level 2 to Level 3.

To view all of the changes to the Humana Drug List, please go to www.humana.com and click on the “Providers” link, Prescription Drug Benefits and Services” and then “Prescription Resources.”
