| More Exciting Changes for
Humana’s YourPractice
Last quarter, we were happy to report on the increased circulation for Humana’s YourPractice. We are proud that since the publication debuted in the fall of 2002, we have increased our circulation by more than 200,000. One of the reasons that we created this magazine is to communicate effectively with all of our doctors, office managers, hospital executives and billing managers, and the increased circulation allows us to do just that.
Another reason that Humana’s YourPractice was created is because of a topic I have mentioned many times in this space — how we are aware of the vast amount of mail that you receive. We need to ensure that you are aware of critical details from us, while being mindful of the amount of letters and faxes you receive not only from Humana, but from other payers as well.
Another topic that we are always happy to cover, not only in this space but throughout the magazine, is technology. Whether it’s the latest online referral and preauthorization tool or the availability of our updated Drug List on Humana.com, we are constantly working to eliminate waste in the system and facilitate administrative ease with our online tools.
Our latest exciting change to the magazine encompasses both of these efforts — reducing the mail you receive and bringing you the latest and greatest technological developments and advances to make your work easier in the digital world in which we live. Starting with the first quarter issue in 2009, Humana’s YourPractice will be available exclusively online at Humana.com. You will no longer receive a printed version of the magazine.
Not only does this evolution of an electronic-only version of the magazine help you in the ways discussed above, but it helps us do our part to protect and preserve the environment by reducing paper waste. Also, sending stories that may be of interest to your colleagues and co-workers will be easier — simply send them an e-mail with a Web link.
The content that you have come to look forward to reading will remain the same. We will continue to update you on news for our Medicare members, the latest in real-time claims adjudication, updates on new Humana programs and more. Only now instead of coming to your mailbox, we ask that you visit our Web site each quarter, or as often as you like, to read Humana’s YourPractice.
I hope that you will continue to look to Humana’s YourPractice as a valuable and timely source of information about Humana.
Sincerely,

Bruce Perkins
