Cardiac Catheterization

Outpatient diagnostic cardiac catheterizations are administered by HealthHelp, a nationally recognized radiology benefit management organization. Please note that precertification, preadmission, preauthorization and notification requirements all refer to the same process of preauthorization. However, for Medicare Advantage (MA) Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) plans, notification is requested, not required.

Preauthorization and Notification for Cardiac Catheterization

Humana uses RadConsultTM, HealthHelp's service for obtaining preauthorization or submitting notification, for Humana-covered patients' outpatient diagnostic cardiac catheterizations.

Please note: Exclusions from this requirement include the following members and providers:

  • Puerto Rico commercial, Medicaid and MA members
  • Florida MA HMO and Medicaid HMO members
  • Ochsner commercial and MA HMO members
  • Health Care Partners commercial and MA HMO members
  • Chicago risk and delegated providers

Submitting Preauthorization Requests

Humana requires that outpatient diagnostic cardiac catheterizations ordered for a Humana-covered patient, including MA PFFS notification, be administered through the RadConsult call center by calling 1-866-825-1550, available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central time, Saturday, or by submitting an online request via HealthHelp
