We consider our suppliers an extension of our company. The following Standards of Excellence outline Humana's expectations of how our suppliers conduct business, and reflect our Corporate Social Responsibility Platform of Healthy People, Healthy Planet and Healthy Performance.

Ethics
Humana has had a formalized ethics code since 1995 and a commitment to ethics since its founding in 1961. Today associates complete ethics training when they join the company – and every year thereafter. They receive an ethics manual written by associates for associates and they have 24-hour access to the Ethics Help Line should questions or concerns arise.
In 2008, Humana received the Better Business Bureau's Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. Humana was the only large company in the Louisville region to receive the award.
Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS) shares its parent company's commitment to ethics. HMHS is a signatory member to the Defense Industry Initiative on Business Ethics and Conduct, a voluntary, nonprofit organization that seeks to ensure that its members conduct business with the highest degree of integrity and honesty, while meeting special compliance risks established in contracting with the Department of Defense.
