Helping each of our members and patients achieve their optimal whole-person health has long been a strategic imperative for Humana. Whether it’s by focusing on preventive and primary care, managing health conditions, setting and achieving health-related goals, or finding the right care in the right place – at home, in the community, and through telehealth – Humana helps make the journey toward health easier for our members.

Members and patients COVID data.
in 2020, Humana set a goal to conduct 3 million social need screenings. We more than doubled our goal, tracking 6,157, 340 screenings.

Humana partnered to establish a hub of loneliness and social isolation resources at Farfromalone.com to make it easier and more seamless for members to stay socially connected. We also brought everything people love about our Humana Neighborhood Centers into the virtual world, easily accessed from the comfort of home. In 2021, Humana served over 96,000 unique visitors with over 216k interactions through offerings like online cooking demos, crafts and meditation. We made it easy to continue engaging socially even during social distancing.

Partnering with providers to create value for our members

Our annual Value-based Care Report, PDF details how Humana uses an integrated approach to help our Medicare Advantage (MA) members achieve their best health. Humana members who seek care from physicians in value-based agreements receive more care – including more telehealth – and experience better health outcomes than other Medicare members. They also spent less time in the hospital and experienced lower healthcare costs; an estimated $3.1 billion in plan-covered medical expenses was saved by Humana Medicare Advantage members in value-based agreements.

In recent years, we have significantly expanded our healthcare service capabilities from primary care, to pharmacy, to behavioral health to care in the home and more—to better serve our medical members, including those with Medicare Advantage, Humana Healthy Horizons, Humana Military | TRICARE, employer group and other plans, and we significantly strengthened our payer-agnostic care offerings for all our patients through our CenterWell brand.

Humana stats on expanding access to healthcare.
Humana ended 2021 with 206 primary care centers, representing a 32% increase over the prior year. Human also served Medicaid-eligible members in six states in 2021.
