Executive Physician Immersion Program

Training physicians to lead healthcare transformation as they learn about a broad range of aspects of the healthcare industry.

Humana’s Executive Physician Immersion Program offers physicians the opportunity to apply their clinical expertise to solve problems in population health. Program participants will learn about in-home care, technology and digital capabilities, telemedicine, risk and compliance, and social determinants of health.

The ideal candidate

  • Board-certified or board-eligible
  • Strong business acumen
  • Advanced secondary degree (MBA, MPH, or JD)

How the program works

The Executive Physician Immersion Program (EPIP) is a two-year rotation that gives physicians a comprehensive understanding of Humana’s business, so they can assume leadership roles that help continue the transformation of the company into an integrated care delivery organization.

Infuse clinical expertise into Humana’s marketing approach while better understanding the perceptions and motivation of consumers and physicians.

Corporate Strategy

Engage in projects that impact corporate and business unit strategy, including mergers and acquisitions and corporate development initiatives.

Enterprise Risk & Compliance

Understand Humana’s core compliance strategies, CMS requirements, regulatory and legal requirements, reporting and governance structures.

Healthcare Services

Partner with teams throughout the organization to support key pharmacy, behavioral health, quality, home health, care management, utilization management, patient engagement and patient experience initiatives.

Digital Health and Analytics

Collaborate with various teams within the new Digital Health and Analytics organization to focus on building Humana’s digital care delivery operations and enterprise-wide analytics and capabilities.

Healthcare Quality Reporting & Improvement

Develop a deep understanding of how appropriate coding and reporting can improve quality and how it relates to the Medicare Stars bonus program.

Local geographic-based work

Learn how Humana partners day-to-day with providers and drives hands-on business strategies by working on initiatives to support local healthcare providers in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care.
