Save Money on Prescriptions with Preferred Cost-Share Pharmacies

We are constantly working to help you manage your health care costs while making sure the pharmacies in your Humana network are delivering the highest quality. By implementing a new program in 2017, we hope to accomplish both of those goals.

Effective January 1, 2017, all 2017 Humana Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plan networks will feature both preferred cost-share pharmacies and standard cost-share pharmacies.

Humana members who get their medicines filled at a preferred cost-share pharmacy may pay a lower cost share compared to a standard cost-share pharmacy.

All preferred cost-share pharmacies have signed up for a new Humana program that puts a focus on quality and health outcomes. This change affects all Humana members with an individual MAPD plan (except in Puerto Rico)*.

Nearly 98% of pharmacies that are currently in your network will be preferred cost-share pharmacies in 2017. Where does your pharmacy stand?

  • National pharmacies – Humana Pharmacy retail, Humana Pharmacy mail order pharmacy and retailers including CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and Walmart are all preferred cost-share pharmacies.
  • Regional Pharmacies – Majority are preferred cost-share pharmacies for Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plans
  • Independent Local Pharmacies – Majority are preferred cost-share pharmacies for MAPD plans
