Humana provides an advice line staffed by nurses who support members who have questions regarding medical conditions, symptoms and treatments. Nurses also help members determine the most appropriate level of care.*
Services provided through this program include guidance as to when to go to the emergency room, to an urgent care facility or to a primary care physician, as well as personal care information. Callers also have access to a medical information library, with more than 400 topics, which is accessible through the member’s MyHumana Web page.
Member eligibility for this service varies by plan, and it is not available for Puerto Rico residents and those with prescription-drug-only plans. Interpreters are available for members who do not speak English.
To determine whether their plan provides access to the HumanaFirst nurse advice line, members should call the member services number on the back of their Humana ID card. Those who use a TTY should dial 711.
*Members experiencing a life-threatening emergency should call 911 or their local emergency services provider.
