Humana Well Dine®

This program provides nutritious meals to eligible Medicare members recovering from an inpatient stay in a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Meals also are available for some Humana Medicare members who are enrolled in a qualified chronic-condition special needs plan.

Program overview

Members receive 10 frozen, packaged meals and can choose from regular, diabetic, puree, vegetarian, kosher and renal-supportive options. Members may call 1-866-96MEALS (1-866-966-3257) to see if they are eligible for Well Dine under their plan benefits and to request participation in the program. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time, and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A discharge nurse or a Humana at HomeSM coordinator also may order meals for a member. Along with their meals, members receive a guide to healthy eating.

Meal delivery is arranged by Independent Living Systems (ILS). When a qualifying member requests meals, Humana and ILS send a fax to the patient's primary care provider or treating physician. Practitioners have a 24-hour window in which to change or cancel the meal request due to medical concerns. After that, ILS initiates meal delivery.

If a practitioner wants to change or cancel a meal request due to medical concerns after this time frame, he or she should call ILS at 1-866-96MEALS (1-866-966-3257) Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern time, or Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eligibility and cost

Meals are provided to eligible members as part of their benefit plan and at no additional cost. This program is available to members of most Humana Medicare Advantage group and individual plans throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Many Humana Medicare Supplement plan members also are eligible, along with members of some Humana chronic-condition special needs plans who may have meals covered outside of the post-hospitalization benefit.
