Can the Member Summary with clinical inference be done via telehealth and can it be done using real-time interactive audio only?
ANSWER: Effective July 1, 2020, Humana will no longer accept Member Summary with clinical inference completed during a visit which used real-time interactive audio-only technology but will continue to accept it for visits conducted using real-time interactive audio and video telecommunications system.
- If the visit is performed via telehealth with a real-time interactive audio and video telecommunications system, also use modifier 95 to indicate that the visit was performed by telehealth and report the CMS POS code that would have been reported if the service had been furnished in person.
- A visit performed using audio-only technology should be billed with E/M codes (99441─99443), though these will no longer be accepted for the Member Summary with clinical inference program, effective July 1, 2020.
