As part of an effort to get residents from Louisville and the surrounding region to increase their physical activity year round, HumanaVitality® is proud to sponsor the 2012 Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) Half Marathon. The race, held November 3, 2012, is scheduled for the fall to complement the spring Kentucky Derby Festival Mini-Marathon, giving amateur and experienced runners incentive to train throughout all four seasons.
HumanaVitality members who choose to participate in the LSC Half Marathon may rack up enough Vitality Points® to increase their Vitality Status®! Members will receive 500 Vitality Points for completing the Half Marathon (a Level 3 athletic event), and have the opportunity to receive 160 Vitality Points per week of training if they use a fitness device (pedometer, heart rate monitor, HumanaFit, or NikePlus app) and reach the minimum activity threshold seven days a week. With about seven weeks left until the race, that's a whopping total of 1,620 potential Vitality Points!
The unique course, which begins at the KFC Yum! Center Plaza, will give residents and visitors alike a close look at both the new and historic architecture of East Downtown Louisville. The LSC Half Marathon is a great fit for HumanaVitality because it encourages participants to live active and healthy lifestyles, and promotes well-being within Louisville and the surrounding community.
