Human Rights Campaign (HRC)
The Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) CEI report, released each fall, provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees. For the third year in a row, Humana scored a perfect 100 and is deemed a “Best Place to Work” by HRC, signifying Humana's dedication to promoting diversity and fostering inclusion at the workplace.
Merkle and CMO Council’s CRM Executive Summit, “Marketing Innovation Awards”
REAL Powered by Humana was awarded first place for Best Web-Based Customer Retention and Loyalty Campaign at the 2011 Marketing Innovation Awards. With a thriving Facebook page and robust website, REAL Powered by Humana encouraged members to stay engaged, increase their health knowledge and achieve greater personal well-being. The Marketing Innovation Awards are presented to celebrate companies, brands and marketing leaders who effectively drive market engagement, advance customer experience and further marketing effectiveness through smart technology and enterprise-wide marketing process integration.
IABC Gold Quill and SABRE Awards
The campaign to celebrate Humana’s 50th Anniversary was awarded a 2012 Gold Quill Award of Merit from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), one of the top global awards in public relations. The IABC Gold Quill Awards recognizes the best in communication management, skills and creativity across 32 categories. Humana won in the “Special Events — Internal or External” category for its efforts to celebrate the company’s 50th Anniversary, which included a number of special events and culminated with a celebration for associates on August 18, 2011 in Louisville. Two tiers of Gold Quill Awards judges carefully evaluated the entry and confirmed that it demonstrated world-class standards in strategic communication.
Computerworld’s 100 Best Places to Work in IT
Humana scored 79 on the list of Computerworld’s 100 Best Places to Work in IT. Now in its 19th year, this list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
PRSA Bronze Anvil
For efforts on the “Build a Family Legacy Tour” campaign, Humana won the 2012 PRSA Bronze Anvil in the Media Relations/Consumer Services category. During the campaign, Humana effectively showcased its focus on multi-generational health, engaged with outside NGO partners for added reputational lift, and used strong metrics that emphasized business results. The Bronze Anvil program recognizes and honors the very best public relations tactics executed each year. This year’s competition drew a total of 784 entries. Of those, only 56 organizations were selected by the Bronze Anvil Judges as Bronze Anvil winners. This demonstrates the high standards applied by the judges in their evaluation process.
People's Choice Stevie Awards
Humana won two “People’s Choice” awards at the 2012 American Business Awards competition, or “The Stevies.” The MyHumana Mobile App, which gives members immediate access to information regarding drug pricing, provider search and claims, urgent care locations, and spending account balances, won in the Favorite Smart Phone or Tablet category. In addition, Humana’s Integrated Proposal System won in the Favorite Business-to-Business Product category. The American Business Awards recognize outstanding new products and services as well as achievements in the technology industries.
Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals MarCom Awards: Platinum Award, Special Event Category: Humana's 50th Anniversary Celebration
The MarCom Awards creative competition is for any individual or company involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers. The MarCom statuette graces the trophy cases of some of the top business and communication firms in the world. Humana won the awards highest honor, the Platinum Awards, for the creative efforts surrounding the company's 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Newsweek Green Rankings
In the Newsweek Global Green Rankings, companies were ranked by their overall Green Score, derived from three component scores: the Environmental Impact Score, the Green Policies Score and the Reputation Survey Score, weighted at 45 percent, 45 percent and 10 percent, respectively. In 2014, Humana was ranked No. 69 out of the 500 largest U.S. public companies. Humana was the highest ranked health insurer and No. 10 out of all health care companies on the 500-company list.
HP Exstream Americas User Conference Awards – Humana Strategic Communications' Visionary Award and Achiever Award
HP Exstream Americas User Conference Awards are given to companies who have displayed a commitment to HP Exstream. The awarded companies have shown a dedication of not only time, but resources, and priority. Humana's partnership with HP Exstream has benefited our members by meeting unique business and/or technical needs in the marketplace.
IABC/PRSA Landmark of Excellence Awards – SOIT Communications: "Dear Outlook" email campaign
Each year in mid-October, the Kentucky Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicator, in conjunction with the Public Relations Society of America's Bluegrass Chapter, hosts the Landmarks of Excellence Awards to recognize outstanding achievement in the public relations arena. The Landmarks of Excellence ceremony has become one of the region's best showcases of communications talent. Humana and SOIT Communications were honored to win the organizations' award recognizing the "Dear Outlook" email campaign.
Medical Marketing & Media Gold Award – Humana and RAPP's "Relationships" Campaign
The esteemed judges at MM&M awarded RAPP and Humana Medicare the Gold Award for the "Best TV Advertisement/Campaign”. The well-executed "Relationships" television spot symbolizes Humana's dedication to understanding the needs of its members. The MM&M Awards recognize exceptional creativity and marketing effectiveness in healthcare.
Business Leader's Movers & Shakers Award – Jean Bisio, President, Humana Cares
Each year, Business Leader honors the up-and-coming leaders of the South through their Movers & Shakers Awards. This year, Jean Bisio was recognized as an influential leader who's demonstrated an impact within her company and her community. Jean was honored at an awards ceremony held at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club in Tampa, FL.
Stevie Awards – MyHumana Mobile
Humana's mobile app, MyHumana Mobile, won two top national Stevie Awards in the 2011 American Business Awards. Consumers selected *My*Humana Mobile as "The People's Choice" winner in the Best New Smartphone or Tablet App category. Experts chose MyHumana Mobile as the winner in the "Best New Product or Service of the Year" category.
Tri-State Minority Supplier Diversity Development Council's 2010 Chairman's Challenge Award
Humana was recognized for its commitment to supplier diversity by the Tri-State Minority Supplier Development Council (TSMSDC)—a Kentucky, West Virginia and South Central Indiana regional member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council that provides increased business opportunities for minority-owned businesses of all sizes. TSMSDC honored Humana with the 2010 Chairman's Challenge Award for its Supplier Diversity program that identifies and partners with qualified minority-owned, woman-owned and small business suppliers. Humana estimates we purchased at least 12 percent of total goods and services from diverse suppliers last year.
Dorland Health Award – Humana Cares honorable mention in Medicare Advantage Program category
Dorland Health Silver Crown Awards is a unique program recognizing organizations and professionals who provide exceptional services, products and information to the 55+ population. Humana's integrated complex and chronic care management program, Humana Cares, received an honorable mention in the Medicare Advantage Program category, which honors programs that provide quality health care coverage for those who meet the eligibility criteria.
Appy Awards 2011 – MyHumana Mobile
Mobile smart devices today are everywhere and people are increasingly using them in new ways. Humana has developed several mobile apps to improve members' health and well-being and to arm them with powerful tools at the point of service. Humana's recent innovation, MyHumana Mobile, was honored as the 2011 "Best Medical App" at the first-ever Appy Awards during the Online Media, Marketing and Advertising (OMMA) Global Conference and Expo. Since early 2010, Humana has offered this free app to enable members to access personalized health resources, including finding health care providers, tracking costs and claims, and receiving well-being reminders. More than 30,000 members have downloaded MyHumana Mobile.
ComputerWorld's Premier 100 IT Leaders – Aaron Gani, vice president, Applications Engineering
The Premier 100 IT Leaders awards program spotlights 100 leaders, from both the technology and business sides of companies, for their exceptional technology leadership, innovative solutions to business challenges and effective management of IT strategies. Humana vice president of applications engineering Aaron Gani was named as a 2011 honoree.
Business Insurance Women to Watch – Jean Bisio; Pattie Dale Tye
Business Insurance magazine's annual "Women to Watch" issue profiles 25 female executives from around the world who are doing outstanding work in insurance, reinsurance, risk management, employee benefits and related fields. Humana's Jean Bisio, president of Humana Cares, and Pattie Dale Tye, president of Humana's Houston commercial operations, both were named "Women to Watch" in 2010 for their individual professional achievements, influence on the marketplace and contributions to the advancement of women in business.
J.D. Power and Associates Award
Humana Health Plan of Texas received the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates award for "Highest Member Satisfaction among Commercial Health Plans in Texas". This is the second consecutive year that Humana Health Plan has received this honorary award.
Also, Humana Health Plans in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina received the same award for "Highest Member Satisfaction among Commercial Health Plans in the South Atlantic Region".

American Business Awards
In June 2006, Humana won a Stevie Award for our SmartSummary Rx® benefits statement. The statement was recognized in the Best New Product category at the 2006 American Business Awards.
Carbon Disclosure Project
Since 2007, Humana has provided information on our carbon-reduction efforts to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an independent nonprofit organization with the largest database of corporate climate change information in the world. The data originates from responses to CDP's annual information requests, issued on behalf of institutional investors, purchasing organizations and government bodies. In 2014, we improved and received a score of 92 for the depth and comprehensiveness of our disclosure.

Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
Established in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) were the first global sustainability benchmarks. DJSI identify sustainability leaders using rigorous environmental, social and governance criteria, such as corporate governance, social policies, environmental management and corporate citizenship and philanthropy. Humana has been recognized by the indices for seven consecutive years through 2013. Humana was recognized on both the DJSI World and DJSI North America Indices in 2013 and was one of only two U.S. health insurers recognized on the North America Index. Humana scored the top mark among health care companies in areas such as responsible marketing practices and risk-and-crisis management in 2014, for which we earned the distinction of sector leader.
RobecoSAM Sustainability Award
RobecoSAM, an investment specialist focused exclusively on sustainability investing and the organization that evaluates companies for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, honored Humana with a Gold Class Distinction for our strong sustainability performance. Humana is one of only nine U.S. companies to receive the Gold Class distinction.
Humana is a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index series, which was designed to objectively measure the performance of companies that meet globally recognized corporate responsibility standards. We first appeared on the FTSE4Good Index in September 2009.
Humana Government Business recognized for contact center excellence
The Humana Government Business contact call center received The Vision Award for outstanding large contact center along with the Community Service Award for active community engagement during the 2013 Boomerang Awards in Louisville, Kentucky. The Boomerang Awards are presented by the Professional Association for Customer Engagement (PACE) Kentuckiana Chapter, recognizing achievements and contributions of outstanding contact centers and contact center professionals in the Greater Louisville area. Humana Government Business previously received The Vision Award in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012.
