Virtual visits

Get quality care for minor illnesses or behavioral health issues without leaving your home.

A woman has a video-conference appointment with a doctor using Humana’s telemedicine service.

Talking to a doctor is easy—anytime!

Can’t see your regular doctor in person? Virtual visits, also known as telehealth or telemedicine, make it easy to access care from a board-certified doctor via a secure video or phone appointment, from your home or on the go. Doctors may even be able to prescribe medication.

Here are a few common conditions that may be addressed by a virtual visit:

  • Allergies
  • Review of X-rays or other test results
  • Sore throat, cold and flu
  • Diarrhea
  • Rashes or insect bites
  • Depression and anxiety

There’s no need to travel, no need to sit in waiting rooms and no surprise urgent care or emergency room (ER) medical bills.

Virtual visits may be offered by your current doctor or other providers in your plan’s network. Sign in to your MyHumana account to see if your plan offers these benefits.

As always, when you have a true emergency, such as a life-threatening injury, illness or major trauma, call 911 or go to your nearest ER.

Tips to make the most of your telehealth visit:

  • Just as you do for in-person appointments, call your healthcare provider to set up a specific time for your telehealth visit.
  • Put together a list of your current medications, including over-the-counter medicines and supplements. You may also want to take a moment to weigh yourself, check your blood pressure (if you have the equipment) and, if you have diabetes, check your blood sugar before your call begins.
  • Finally, make some notes about your symptoms or concerns before your call begins so you don’t forget to mention them.
