Medicare Savings Programs

How does it work?

Each state offers a Medicare Savings Program for Medicare members whose income and/or assets fall below a certain level. If you qualify, these programs will help pay your monthly Part A or Part B Medicare premiums, and they will not change your health plan benefits or coverage. They are provided by your state at no cost to you.

Am I eligible?

All states will look at monthly income and most will consider other assets as well. Income includes your Social Security check, pension and any other money you receive each month. If you are working, not all of your earned income will count. Assets may include bank accounts, life insurance, stocks and bonds—but not your primary home or car.

Is my financial information safe?

Any financial information you share with Humana will be protected. Information will not be shared with anyone who is not directly assisting with your application for the Medicare Savings Program. Finally, it’s your state, not Humana, that decides if you’re eligible for a Medicare Savings Program.
