Humana Healthy Options Allowance: What is it and how does it work?

Humana Healthy Options Allowance™ helps members on certain plans pay for over-the-counter  items like pain relievers, first aid supplies and vitamins. For Humana members who meet certain criteria, like having qualifying chronic health conditions, this allowance may also be used to help pay for eligible food, utilities, phone service, even rent or mortgage payments.

Who qualifies for the allowance?

The Healthy Options allowance is offered to eligible members enrolled in the following Humana Medicare Advantage plans:

Already have a Humana Medicare Advantage plan? If you are diagnosed with 1 or more chronic conditions after you’ve enrolled in a plan, you may qualify to switch to a plan that includes the Healthy Options Allowance. Visit MyHumana.com  to complete a Health Risk Assessment to check if you qualify.

How much is the Healthy Options Allowance?

Healthy Options Allowance amounts vary by plan and location. Monthly allowances begin at $25/month. The allowance is stored on a member’s Humana Spending Account Card .. Any unused balance from 1 month will roll over to the next month until you reach the end of the plan year or you decide to leave the plan.

Groceries

Approved produce, beverages, dairy, meat and seafood, deli items, frozen and prepared foods, bakery items and more

Home and personal supplies

Toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, cleaning supplies, furnace filters, fans, space heaters and air conditioners

Over-the-counter items

Allergy, cold and flu medicine, vitamins and supplements, first aid, pain relief, digestive health products and more

Pet supplies

Pet food, pet toys, kitty litter and flea shampoo

Utilities, rent and mortgage

Rent or mortgage payments; home phone and internet service; electric, home heating and water and sewer bills

Assistive devices

Grab bars, raised toilet seats, low-vision aids and reaching aids

Disaster preparedness

Batteries, weather radios, flashlights and bottled water
