It is important to take care of yourself while you are pregnant. This will help your baby have a healthy start to her life. Our HumanaBeginnings program helps Humana Healthy Horizons members in Virginia get the care that they need during and after their pregnancy. As a new mom, this benefit will help you access extra resources and services, as well as rewards for completing prenatal and postnatal checkups.

Care during pregnancy and after

At Humana, we know that all moms need help before and after giving birth. That is why we are committed to helping our pregnant members access care, support, and guidance throughout pregnancy, and after your baby is born.

Enroll in HumanaBeginnings to get these great services:

While you’re pregnant:

  • Rewards for going to the doctor and getting certain health screenings
  • Support from nurses trained to help during your pregnancy
  • Education and support for you and your partner or support system
  • Extra help understanding your Humana Healthy Horizons in Virginia benefits
  • Referrals for other treatment and services

After your baby is born:

  • Rewards for postpartum and well-child doctor visits
  • Access to nutrition counseling sessions
  • Support for breastfeeding

Enroll your new baby in Cardinal Care Medicaid

We know how important it is that your new baby has the best care possible, as soon as possible. To enroll your newborn in Medicaid, you must do one of the following within 60 days of your child’s birth:

  • Call Cover Virginia at 855-242-8282
  • Call your local Department of Social Services (DSS) office
