HumanaBeginnings™ is for our pregnant members and new moms. Work with a care manager and get other useful resources and benefits, like a free portable crib.

HumanaBeginnings enrollment

During your enrollment in HumanaBeginnings, you’ll get access to support from a care manager and other resources, including:

During pregnancy:

  • Education and support for you and your partner
  • Extra help or support with understanding your health plan benefits
  • Referrals for other treatment and community services
  • Support from nurses trained to help during pregnancy

After your baby is born:

  • Coordination with your hospital, lactation, and newborn team
  • Education and support for partners
  • Family-planning information and services
  • Newborn support care when needed
  • Referrals for other treatment and community services

Doula services

A doula, also known as a birth companion:

  • Can help you find birthing classes and get information on comfort measures during delivery
  • Goes to doctors’ visits with you
  • Has been shown to help mothers have a healthier pregnancy and birth, including improved breastfeeding rates and increased chance of a vaginal birth
  • Is trained to provide physical and emotional support to a mother before, during, and after a pregnancy

However, doulas:

  • Are not medical staff
  • Cannot give any medical advice or care

Our pregnant members can receive services from a doula, including:

  • 5 prenatal visits
  • 3 postpartum visits
  • 1 visit for delivery assistance

These doula services are available to members per pregnancy.

Some rewards you may qualify for right now and after your baby is born include:

  • $25 in rewards for having 1 prenatal visit during your pregnancy during the first trimester or within 42 days of enrollment
  • $25 in rewards for having 1 postpartum visit between 7 and 84 days after delivery, once per pregnancy
  • Up to $120 in rewards for taking your baby to well-child visits
    • You will earn $20 in rewards per well-child visit, up to 6 well-child visits

After you deliver

Your baby will be enrolled in Humana Healthy Horizons® in Louisiana effective the month they are born. You do not have to do anything to enroll your baby.

After your baby is born, if you want to enroll him or her in another contractor’s health plan, call the Enrollment Broker at 1-855-229-6848 (TTY: 1-855-526-3346), Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Have a visit with the doctor who delivers your baby between 3 and 6 weeks after your baby is born. During this visit, talk to your doctor about your family-planning options.

Healthcare for babies

Children should see their doctors regularly from birth through age 20, to make sure they are and stay healthy. 

Members up to age 20 can get any medically necessary health service to treat, prevent, or improve a health problem. This special set of federal benefits is called Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) preventive screening services. These services help your child’s doctor find and treat health problems early, so your child can have the best possible health and development possible.

These services are free and cover: 

Your baby needs a checkup between 3 and 5 days of birth. If you do not have a doctor for your baby (pediatrician), use our online Find a Doctor service to look for doctors in your area.

We do our best to make healthcare easy. We aim to give you what you need to feel your best PLUS things that you didn’t even know you needed. Telling you what's healthy isn't enough. We want to help you get there.

We call that human care.

Rewards have no cash value. The monetary amounts listed above are reward values, not actual dollars. For some rewards, your doctor has to tell us that you completed the healthy activity. Once we get this information from your doctor, you will see in the app the option to redeem the reward. For any reward you qualify to earn during the 2023 plan year—January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023 plan year, we must get confirmation from your doctor by no later than March 15, 2024.  

Go365 for Humana Healthy Horizons is available to all members who meet the requirements of the program. Rewards are not used to direct the members to select a certain provider. Rewards may take 90 to 180 days or greater to receive. Rewards are non-transferrable to other Managed Care Plans or other programs. Members will lose access to the Go365® App and to the earned incentives and rewards if they voluntarily dis-enroll from Humana Healthy Horizons or lose Medicaid eligibility for more than one-hundred eighty (180) days. At the end of plan year (December 31), members with continuous enrollment will have 90 days to redeem their rewards.  

Gift cards cannot be used to purchase prescription drugs or medical services that are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or other federal healthcare programs; alcohol; tobacco; e-cigarettes; or firearms. Gift cards must not be converted to cash. Rewards may be limited to once per year, per activity. See description for details.
