Humana Healthy Horizons® in Ohio helps our pregnant and new moms get the care they need. Through our HumanaBeginnings™ care management program, pregnant members get access to care managers, rewards for healthy actions, extra support, and more.

HumanaBeginnings

All moms need help before and after giving birth. Our HumanaBeginnings program:

  • Is for our pregnant members
  • Includes rewards for going to the doctor and getting certain screenings and vaccines
  • Provides the help we know you need before and after you give birth

Breast pumps

You may be able to receive a breast pump. Every Medicaid member is allotted 1 electric breast pump per pregnancy, 1 manual breast pump per pregnancy, and/or a hospital grade electric breast pump for rental up to 90 days. If you need a breast pump follow these quick steps:

  1. Get a prescription from your provider 
  2. Call one of our breast pump providers

Value added benefits

Healthcare for babies

Your baby will be enrolled in Humana Healthy Horizons in Ohio effective the month they are born. You do not have to do anything to enroll your baby.

After your baby is born, if you want to enroll them in another contractor’s health plan, call the Ohio Medicaid Consumer Hotline at 800-324-8680 (TTY: 711), Monday – Friday, from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m., Eastern time, and on Saturday, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Eastern time.

Have a visit with the doctor who delivers your baby between three and six weeks after your baby is born. During this visit, talk to your doctor about your family-planning options.

Children should see their doctors regularly from birth through age 20, to make sure they are and stay healthy.

Your baby needs a checkup within seven days of birth. If you do not have a doctor (pediatrician) for your baby:

Members up to age 20 can get any medically necessary health service to treat, prevent, or improve a health problem. This special set of federal benefits is called Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) services. Healthchek is Ohio’s EPSDT program.

Urgent maternal warning signs

During and after pregnancy, you and your body will go through many changes. Some changes are not normal. They could be a sign of serious complications that can cause long-term effects or even death.

You may not know how to tell the difference between normal and abnormal changes—but you know when something is wrong. If you are concerned about symptoms or changes, talk to your doctor to make sure you get the care you need.
