When you first qualify for Medicaid, you may be assigned a health plan, but you don’t have to keep it. You have the right to pick a different health plan and switch to it during the first 90 days of your enrollment.

Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) designed its Next Generation program to help make sure Medicaid recipients in Ohio get the individualized care they need when they need it.
In 2022, ODM implemented two key phases:
On Feb. 1, 2023, ODM launched the final phase of the Next Generation Medicaid program.
Feb. 1: Some members received an ID card at the start of their Humana Healthy Horizons in Ohio enrollment that had a printing error. This error resulted in the Member ID to display as Plan ID and the Plan ID to display as Member ID. We are sending replacement ID cards to affected members. Once you receive the updated card, please destroy the previous version you received.
In 2022, managed care members were given the chance to pick a Next Generation managed care plan, such as Humana Healthy Horizons in Ohio.
If you picked a Next Generation managed care plan, you received coverage through your current managed care plan until Feb. 1, 2023, at which time your enrollment in the plan you picked went into effect.
If you picked a managed care plan that previously covered Ohio Medicaid members, your coverage with your new plan went into effect Dec. 1, 2022.

For Humana Healthy Horizons in Ohio members, all pharmacy services are covered by Gainwell, Ohio Medicaid’s SPBM. Gainwell covers all Medicaid-covered, medically necessary prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications.
