To help improve service, save time, and support better results, Humana uses Artificial Intelligence, also called AI, in some parts of member care and health plan work.

How Humana May Use AI

AI may be used to:

  • Help support some clinical reviews and other health care decisions
  • Find ways to improve your care and suggest helpful services
  • Contact members to share information or provide help
  • Find possible fraud, waste, or abuse

AI Tools and Systems

Humana uses AI tools that are made by Humana and by other companies. These tools are carefully checked for:

  • Accuracy
  • Fairness
  • Following the law

Humana’s Responsible AI, Risk, and Compliance teams review these tools to help make sure they are used safely and responsibly.

How This May Affect You

Trained professionals always make decisions about your health care and benefits. Sometimes, AI may help during the review process. But a human reviewer has the final say on all denials based on medical need, even when AI tools are used to help.

Members in need of behavioral health crisis services and Mobile Responses Support Services (MRSS) can:
