Where to get care

We know you can get sick or hurt without warning. Your doctor can see you when you’re sick and when you’re well.

When your doctor is available

For most issues, your primary care physician (PCP):

  • Can give you the care you need
  • Can visit with you when you’re well and when you’re sick
  • May offer virtual care (telehealth) visits

Talk to your PCP about the office’s virtual care options.

During a virtual care (telehealth) visit

During a virtual care (telehealth) visit, you can connect with your doctor without leaving your home.

A virtual care visit may be appropriate for:

  • Allergies
  • Bug bites
  • Bumps, cuts, scrapes
  • Cold sores
  • Cough, sore throat, congestion
  • Ear pain
  • Flu symptoms
  • Gout
  • Minor headaches, sprains, strains
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Pink eye
  • Sinus infection
  • Strep throat
  • Urinary burning

Retail clinics/urgent care centers

Retail clinics like CVS® and urgent care centers are:

  • Convenient—Most open early, close late, and have weekend hours
  • Quick—No appointment needed
  • Staffed by trained professionals—Get treatment for a range of issues, including urgent flu-like symptoms, moderate stomach pain, small cuts, minor injuries, ongoing diarrhea, and wheezing

During an emergency

Dial 911 or get to your nearest emergency room (ER) if you have a sudden, serious situation:

  • That demands immediate attention, such as uncontrolled bleeding, chest pain, difficulty breathing, or stroke
  • That may represent a threat to your life or limb

If you go to the ER, please:

  • Call the number on the back of your member ID card as soon as you are home and able to let us know
  • Tell your doctor about your ER visit

Where children can get care

Call your child’s pediatrician when your child is sick or well. If your child needs care when your pediatrician is not available, your child also can:

  • Have a virtual care visit
  • Go to a retail clinic or urgent care center

Only take children to the ER during an emergency.
