What does the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) Program help cover?
Medicare Part A and Part B Premiums
Many people with Medicare Part A (hospital coverage) don’t have to pay a premium, but if you do have to pay a Part A premium, QMB may cover that. QMB also helps by paying your monthly Medicare Part B premium. In 2026, the Part B premium is $202.90 each month.
Deductibles, Coinsurance and Copayments
QMB also helps with many of the out-of-pocket costs that come with Original Medicare Part A and Part B. This includes your deductibles, coinsurance and copayments. These are the amounts you normally pay when you receive medical services or hospital care. When you're a Qualified Medicare Beneficiary, your Medicare providers generally aren't allowed to bill you for costs that Medicare doesn’t cover. This means fewer unexpected bills and a clearer picture of your healthcare expenses.
