Hearing services

Your plan covers many hearing services for you. With the Humana Health Plan, you have more benefits.

Managed medical assistance services:

We cover hearing tests and the following as prescribed by your doctor.

For members under age 21:

You are covered for medically necessary hearing screenings and diagnostic testing under the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) portion of your Humana Health Plan including:

  • 1 hearing aid or cochlear implants, assessment, fitting, checking, and evaluation every 3 years
  • Hearing therapy and related miscellaneous items

For members age 21 and up:

  • Screening for ages up to 65
  • Screening for older adults over 65 if at high risk

You may need to get approval before using these benefits. This is called prior authorization. You can call Customer Care if you have questions about what needs prior authorization.

When you give us a call, our Customer Care team can tell you what doctors you can see. They can also tell you what hearing services are available and answer any questions you have. Reach us at: 1-800-444-9137 (TTY: 711), Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Eastern time.

Note: Our automated phone system may answer your call on Saturdays, Sundays and some public holidays. This system will ask you to select the reason for your call, and we will call you back by the end of the next business day.
