Behavioral/mental health is an important part of your overall wellness. Asking for help is OK. We help our members get the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

We are here to help

Behavioral/mental healthcare can help you cope with all sorts of issues, such as stress, trauma, worries, or sadness. Sometimes talking with someone can help. We can help you:

  • Figure out what type of care you need
  • Connect with an experienced provider

If you are in a crisis

During a personal or family crisis, call our behavioral health crisis line at 1-844-461-2848, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You’ll speak to someone trained to help. All calls are confidential.

Available behavioral/mental health services

As a Humana Healthy Horizons® in Louisiana member, you have many behavioral/mental health services available to you. These include:

Basic behavioral health services: Services provided through primary care, including, but not limited to, screening for mental health and substance use issues, prevention, early intervention, medication management, and treatment and referral to specialty services.

Prior authorization

You may need approval before getting any of the above screenings and diagnostic testing services. This preapproval is called prior authorization.

  • Call Member Services at 1-800-448-3810 (TTY: 711), Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

You, your authorized representative, or a provider can submit a prior authorization request on your behalf.

Behavioral health services providers

Whether you are coping with everyday stress, relationship challenges, a child’s health needs, a substance use disorder, or mental health issue, you can access:

  • Behavioral health services
  • Care that may make a measurable difference in your life
  • Providers who focus on core principles of treatment and recovery

Use our Find a Doctor service to look for in-network providers in your area who offer behavioral health services.

To use our online Find a Doctor tool go to Humana.com/FindaDoctor.

Enter your ZIP code, select Medicaid as your coverage type, and select Network from the drop-down menu.

You can then search by the name of the doctor or facility, specialty, such as cardiology, or a condition such as ear infection.

You also can choose All and type any text into the search.

Then click Search.

Click Update my search to search for something else.

If you need help finding and choosing a doctor, call the number on the back of your enrollee ID card to speak with an Enrollee Services representative.

If you are thinking about hurting yourself or someone else:

  • Call 988 to reach the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
  • Call 1-844-461-2848 to reach our 24-Hour Behavioral Health Crisis Line
  • Go to the nearest emergency room (ER) or crisis stabilization center, even if out of our service area

If you get emergency care outside of our service area, we will make plans to transfer you to a hospital or provider in our plan’s network once you are stable.
