Prepare for renewal

Each year, you must renew your Medicaid eligibility. This is called “redetermination.” You must do this through the Department of Children and Families opens in new window .

To prepare for renewal:

  1. Update your contact information. Make sure Florida has your current:
    • Mailing address
    • Phone number
    • Email
    • Other contact info
  2. Check your mail. The Department of Children and Families will send:
    • Information about your coverage
    • Your renewal packet
  3. Complete your renewal form. You will get your renewal packet about 30 days before it is due. Fill out the form and send it in right away to avoid losing your coverage. 

How to renew

You can renew your Medicaid eligibility in four ways:

Renew by phone

To renew by phone, call the DCF Call Center:

Renew online

To renew online, follow these steps:

  1. Go to https://myaccess.myflfamilies.com/ opens in new window
  2. Log in to your self-service portal account, or click “sign up” to create a new account if you don’t have one

Complete the necessary steps to submit your renewal

Renew by mail

To renew by mail:

  • Fill out the Medicaid renewal form that you receive in the mail

Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Members

If you have Long-Term Care (LTC) coverage and need assistance with the renewal process, you may contact your Medicaid Redetermination Specialist or Care Coach. Their contact information is included in your Medicaid Redetermination packet.

Humana can help you:

  • Complete paperwork
  • Answer questions you have while you fill out your forms

You will need:

  • Birthdate and Social Security number for each person who lives with you
  • Job information for each working person in your home
  • Any other health insurance you get
  • Tax forms and pay stubs
  • Information about other income like Social Security, pensions, or unemployment

If you don’t renew in time

Send in your renewal packet even if it is late. If you are eligible for Medicaid but miss the deadline, you have 90 days to sign up again without a new application.

If you don’t send in the needed information, you will lose Medicaid coverage.  However, you can send in your renewal packet to try to get your coverage back. This is called re-enrollment.

If you lose your Medicaid benefits

If you lose your Medicaid benefits, you might be able to get other health coverage. Visit the Health Insurance Marketplace to find insurance for you and your family.

You might still qualify for Medicare. Medicare is for people who are over 65 or disabled.
